Walk in Love 2025 Stewardship Message

Dear Beloved Community of St. Paul’s,

Our Stewardship campaign provides an opportunity for us to reflect on the many ways that we are connected to each other. Our theme this year, Tell Out My Soul, focuses on our stories and the ways we are called to share our words, our actions, our love, our compassion and our joy with the world. In 2025 at St. Paul’s, some of our experiences we have shared have been extremely sad, especially with the loss of several long-term, very involved and well-loved members of our parish and the tragic loss of our beloved Father George. It has been an emotionally challenging year for us. As we have mourned these losses together, we have shared stories and happy memories of those whom we have lost. As we share stories, express our feelings, grieve and heal together and tell out our souls, we become closer and better connected as friends, as chosen family and as the community of St. Paul’s. These bonds we form are important to our relationships with each other, with our community and with God.

Each of us has a story to tell, how we found this community of St. Paul’s, why we actively participate and the blessings it has brought into our lives. Each of us has personal goals, dreams and great ideas, and each of us has struggles and moments of difficulty. At St. Paul’s we can bring our true and whole selves to this special place to share our story and to receive the support, encouragement, acceptance and praise that we need. We will share stories in the coming weeks during our Stewardship campaign. We encourage you to share your story with others, reflecting on the blessings and gifts you have received from God and how you can share them at St. Paul’s to serve our parish and the greater community of San Miguel through our various internal and external ministries.

The best way in which we can honor the memory and legacy of Father George is to continue the work he did so well here for seven years, including growing our ministries both within our church and throughout San Miguel, increasing the numbers of both our English and Spanish-speaking members of our parish and sharing our gifts and blessings from God.

We have been so very blessed to have Father Frank, our retired Assisting Priest, to graciously lead us through this challenging time, preparing for and officiating at our weekly Sunday English services and at confirmation and three funerals in the past two months, preparing the weekly Epistle newsletter and conducting an 8-week Bible study, ensuring that we continue with as much normalcy as possible. Father Frank and our other three retired clergy, Reverend Anne, Father Peter and Pastor Keith, have offered us pastoral care and counseling during our time of grief. All are assisting with the weekly services and support in November since the arrival of our interim Rector Father Greg Frost has been delayed due to his recent fall which resulted in a broken collarbone. Padre Miguel, all of our retired clergy, the Vestry and members of the parish, all of whom have stepped up and have assumed new roles and responsibilities in recent months, are sincerely appreciated and look forward to welcoming Father Greg and his wife Janice very soon.

As our Search Committee works through the process of seeking and attracting the best possible candidates and calling a new permanent Rector to St. Paul’s, it is very important that we remain a strong, united parish family with a healthy financial position. Each year we get closer to bringing in enough money in pledges to cover our approximately $300,000 USD operating budget. It is important that we volunteer our time and our talents through our many internal and external ministries, and we need financial resources to cover our operating expenses and to continue to serve our parish and the community of San Miguel in ways that would make Father George proud and will honor his 42 years of ministry and his legacy of service.

Please take this letter and the attached pledge card home and reflect this week on how you can best serve our parish and the greater community of San Miguel through your time, talents and financial gifts. Please fill in both sides of the pledge card and bring it back next Sunday. We will bring them to the altar and present them to the glory of God in gratitude for our many blessings and gifts.

Whether you live in San Miguel full time, part time or just visit occasionally, we need and sincerely appreciate your generous support. Your financial pledge will allow us to continue to grow, cover our monthly expenses and support our ministries for St. Paul’s and the San Miguel communities. Online pledge cards are available on our website www.StPaulSMA.com. The printed pledge cards can also be scanned and emailed to StPaulManagementSMA@gmail.com. Automatic bank payments, Zelle, cash or checks are preferred in order for 100% of your pledge to be received by St. Paul’s. The parish PayPal account may be accessed through our website; however, PayPal deducts a 5% fee on every transaction.

Thank you for your generosity of your time, talents and your financial gifts. Every gift matters, and each will be gratefully accepted, brought to the altar and blessed before God and our St. Paul’s community.

Tell out my soul! Let us share our stories, let us continue to share our love and compassion with the world, and let us celebrate the Greatness of the Lord!

With gratitude and love,

Andrea Spessard, Stewardship Campaign Chair

¡Proclama a mi alma!

LEGACY GIFTS

In addition to annual pledges, Legacy gifts are St. Paul’s best hope for establishing a true endowment generating an annual 4% restricted draw (roughly) for parish endeavor. Canadian and U.S. Trusts, Wills and Estate planning mechanisms offer straight-forward methods by which to provide a legacy gift to St. Paul’s.

PROPERTY GIFTS

For those in Mexico considering gifts of real property, it is important to know that such gifts must be directed to Amigos Anglicanos A.C. This, our Asociación Civil, permits property gifts for the use of St. Paul’s. Because the Mexican government legally owns the land upon which all churches are built, gifts to St. Paul’s Asociación Religiosa is not the way to successfully leave property to the parish, nor is it sufficient to designate the church in one’s estate documents.
